Summer is here! Lots of activities this month including Open Play for casual games on Thursdays and Fridays and Chess Camps on June 8-12 and June 22-26.
About the Chess Camps
We have five camp sessions to choose from: Half-day (morning 8:30-12; afternoon 1 – 4:30 pm) and Full day sessions (8:30 am – 4:30 pm) available.
Session 1: June 8-12 (in progress)
Session 2: June 22-26 (6 spots left)
Session 3: July 6-10 (3 spots left)
Session 4: July 20-24 (2 spots left)
Session 5: August 3-7 (10 spots left)
Camps are for kids in Kindergarten to 8th grade. Details and registration links for the June schedules are below. And, don’t forget to subscribe to our blog to be in the know of future events.
Save the Dates for these June Events
A. Saturday Open Tournament: Register for any of these weekly tournament on Saturdays: June 13, 20, and 27 to join other chess players for over-the-board RATED games. Video Lecture at 10:30 am. Round 1 at 11 am.
B. Classical time controls are played during Wednesday Knights tournament. Four rounds, with one round played each Wednesday night on: June 3, 10, 17, AND 24. Video lecture at 6:00 pm – 6:50 pm. Rounds starts at 7:00 pm.
C. Looking for a starter tournament or an advance Father’s Day outing idea? The Amateur Tournament is for beginners at all ages. The tournament will be on the second Sunday, June 14. Round 1 starts at 12 pm. There is a section for non-rated games and rated games. This event will be at the fun and beautiful outdoor venue at SteelCraft Garden Grove.
D. Calling all children in Kindergarten to 12th Grade! Sign up for one, two, or all three Summer Scholastic Tournaments. First one will be on Sunday, June 28– The tournament will be officially rated with results being submitted to the US Chess. Round 1 starts at 10 am. Top 5 trophies (pictured on the left) for each section!
E. Last but not least, if you’re looking for more OTB (over-the-board) practice, during Thursdays and Fridays, there is Open Play for casual games starting at 6 pm. – Free entry for chess club members/$10 for non-members. Walk-ins welcome!
