Want to play speed chess? The monthly Blitz tournament has a time control of G/5+0 (Game in 5 minutes with no delay or increment.) The rounds are US Chess Blitz rated. Check out the calendar for the dates.

A. Schedule & Location

  • Date: Varies by month. It is usually on a Tuesday or Friday
  • First Round: 7:00 pm and consecutive rounds are on a rolling schedule.
  • Location: ChessPalace (Cypress) 6803 International Ave. Unit 206 Cypress, CA 90630 – Free parking

B. Tournament Format

  • Swiss System format
  • 5 rounds of double games.  (Each round, players will play TWO games against the same opponent, alternating colors for a total of 10 games.)
  • Time Control: G/5+0 (Game in 5 minutes with no delay or increment.)
  • One Open section

C. Registration

  • Entry Fee: $15 advance registration ($30 onsite); Free for chess club members
  • $5 admin fee for cancellations & refunds.
  • Spectators are welcome to watch for $5

  • Award: 1st place finisher earns a Trophy and a Complimentary entry to another monthly Blitz tournament
  • Players must have an active US Chess Federation membership.
  • Players are encouraged to bring their tournament-regulation-size set and clock.
