The Amateur Chess Tournament is this Sunday, April 12. We invite beginner players to join our upcoming Amateur Chess Tournament—a welcoming, outdoor event designed to practice tournament rules into chess playing.

- Date: Sunday, April 12, 2026
- Time: Round 1 begins promptly at 12:00 PM
- Time Control: Game 30 min/5 sec delay
- Location: SteelCraft Garden Grove
Who Can Play?
This tournament is in a casual venue for beginner players of all ages who knows piece movements, check, and checkmates. Players who are interested in the rated section will need to have (or sign up for) the US Chess membership. For the non-rated section, US Chess membership is not required.
What to Expect
- Players will need to play with the touch-move rule and use a chess clock.
- Opportunities to meet fellow chess enthusiasts
- A great opportunity to learn more about one’s skills
🏆 Awards
- Rated Section: Compete for the top 3 trophy awards
- Non-Rated Section: Earn a medal for winning more than half of your total rounds
Entry Fee
- $32 (and the Humanitix fee) if you register in advance
- $45 for on-site registration
