For beginners (Under 1400 ELO) looking to join their first tournament or want more practice tournaments, this beginners tournament is an opportunity to experience and to practice with tournament rules, such as chess notation, and etiquette in a casual setting.
Players can choose to play in the section for non-rated games or the section in which the games will be US Chess rated. Then the players are assigned opponents. Players will play about 4 to 5 rounds.
Chess boards, pieces, and clocks will be available for use. If you would like to bring your own, you’re welcome to bring them. If you have a chess clock, please bring it.

- Schedule: Onsite Registration at 11:30 – 11:50 am; Round 1 starts at 12 pm with the tournament ending around 5 pm.
- Entry fee: $32 ($45 for same day/on-site registration)
