Get your chess activities in this August before the school year starts again. We have the final chess camp for this summer for K-12th graders on August 4-8, a Grandmaster Lecture on Aug. 16, TWO blitz tournaments, Aug 12 and 19, and the chess club’s 35th Anniversary Tournament, in addition to our regular scheduled events.
Additionally, early bird registration for the Main Tournament of the 60th American Open ends on August 31. More info and to register at www.americanopen.org.

Regular Scheduled Events
Amateur Tournament: For beginners at all ages, the tournament will be on Sunday, August 10. Round 1 starts at 12 pm. *Please note that this tournament is at SteelCraft Garden Grove*
Blitz Tournament Tuesday, August 12 and also another one on Tuesday, August 19 (Round 1 starts at 7 pm) It will be US Chess rated, and the time control is 5 min with no delay. Also a special door raffle prize will be awarded for this month’s tournament!
Casual Play Nights: Thursdays and Fridays – Open to all ages and levels. Come in to practice playing over the board. Free entry for chess club members/$10 for non-members. Play as many games as possible between the hours of 5 pm to 9 pm. No Pre-Registration needed. Walk-ins welcome!
Wednesday Knights: Four rounds, with one round played each Wednesday night on: August 6, 13, 20, AND 27. Rounds starts at 7:00 pm.
Saturday Open: Register for any or all of these weekly tournament on Saturdays: August 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30 to join other chess players for over-the-board RATED games.
Scholastic Tournament: Sunday, August 24 -The scholastic tournament is for chess players in Grades K – 12th. (US Chess Federation membership is required.) Round 1 starts at 10 am
