Happy February everyone! As per usual, we at ChessPalace are hosting the monthly tournaments at Steelcraft Garden Grove, and offering our weekly tournaments and Casual Nights at the chess club location. In addition to all of that, we also have a special upcoming event this month!
We will be hosting a Blitz Chess Tournament on Thursday, February 15th at 7 pm. It’s US Chess rated, and going to be a fast paced competition! The sign up fee is $15 (advance entry and online registration ends 2 hours before the start of the round), and will be $30 at the door. For ChessPalace members, entry is completely free!
As always, you will be able to sign up online or at the chess club prior to the event. We hope to see you there!
Here are the details for the chess club’s regular tournaments this month, as well as Casual Nights:
Wednesday Knights: Four rounds, with one round played each Wednesday night on: February 7, 14, 21, and 28. Rounds starts at 7:00 pm.
Amateur Tournament: February 11th (SuperBowl Sunday) Rounds starts at 12 pm. (US Chess membership is not required for the non-rated section.) *Please note that this tournament is at SteelCraft Garden Grove*
Saturday Open: Register for any or all of these weekly tournament on Saturdays: February 3, 10, 17, and 24 to join other chess players for over-the-board RATED games. Check in at 9:30 AM. Round 1 at 10:00 AM.
Scholastic Tournament: February 25-The scholastic tournament is for chess players in Grades K – 12th. (US Chess Federation membership is required.) Round starts at 9:30 am *Please note that this tournament is at SteelCraft Garden Grove*
Casual Nights: Thursdays and Fridays – Free entry for chess club members/$10 for non-members. Play as many games as possible between the hours of 6 pm to 10 pm. Walk-ins welcome! or Click Here to Sign Up
As a reminder, we are still offering our Group Lessons for for kids! If you want your child to learn to play in a social environment alongside their peers, this is the perfect opportunity for them!
