A one day, US Chess rated tournament, at the chess club is the Saturday Tournament; it is similar to the Wednesday Knights but with a shorter time control that fits all the rounds in a single day. This tournament is open to all ages and levels. It is held weekly unless otherwise noted. Please check our calendars for up-to-date schedules.
Details:
- Three rounds (four rounds for beginners section – unrated and under 1200 players)
- Schedule: Onsite Registration at 10:30-10:45 am; Round 1 starts at 11 AM
- Time Control: 85 minutes with delay 5 seconds (Beginner section will have 4 rounds at game 45 minutes with 5-seconds delay.)
- Entry fee: $30 ($40 for same day/on-site registration)

Current US Chess Federation membership is required.
Sign up or renewals can be made in person prior to the start of the tournament.
Items to Know, Prepare, or Bring:
- Bring your own tournament regulation-sized chess set and clock if available.
- It would be good to know, ahead of the tournament, how to notate chess moves and to play over-the-board with a chess clock.
- Byes: if your know ahead of time that you’ll be missing a round, let us know and there is half-point (bye) for the tournament if tournament director (TD) is notified before round one. Zero-point (bye) is given if TD is notified after round 1 has started. (Only one half-point bye is allowed per tournament.
