ChessPalace chess camps offer a variety of chess related activities. From lectures to practicing over the board play, campers will have a continuous exercise of their mental skills and acuity through chess. Lessons include the fundamentals, openings and endings, pattern recognitions, tactics & strategy, and many more. Teaching methodologies include practice worksheets, over-the board puzzles, lectures, casual play, and mini-tournaments.

Chess camp is an immersive way to learn, enjoy the a classic game for a longer duration than a typical one-hour lesson, and meet new chess friends!

Each session runs Monday to Friday starting at 8:30 am – 4 pm. Full-day, half-day, and single-day options are available.

  • $350/week for Half Day 8:30 am – 12:00 pm or 12:30 pm-4 pm
  • $800/week for Full-Day 8:30 am – 4 pm

( $170 per day for Full-Day schedule or $120 per day for Half-Day schedule)

Lessons

  • FUNDAMENTALS
    • Learn how the pieces move, the objective of the game, and general topics to get a game going
  • OPENINGS AND ENDINGS
    • Campers memorize openings and get familiarity with different ways to checkmate
  • PATTERN RECOGNITIONS
    • What patterns appear often? Campers will see and recognize pattern in movement and in positions
  • TACTICS & STRATEGY
    • Campers learn to develop their own strategy using basics and tactics
  • OVER-THE-BOARD CHESS PLAY
    • Part of the camp’s goal is for children to be able to enjoy playing chess with others away from computer and iPad screens
