Happy March everyone, spring is finally on it’s way!
We will have another Blitz Tournament this month on Thursday, March 7th, in addition to the weekly Wednesday and Saturday tournaments, monthly Amateur and Scholastic tournaments, and Casual Nights at the chess club.
As always, you will be able to sign up online for any of the event or in-person at the chess club. We look forward to playing more chess with you!
Here are the details for the chess club’s regular tournaments this month, as well as Casual Nights:
Saturday Open: Register for any or all of these weekly tournament on Saturdays: March 2, 9, 16, 23, and/or 30 to join other chess players for over-the-board RATED games. Check in at 9:30 AM. Round 1 at 10:00 AM.
Blitz Tournament Thursday, March 7th (Round 1 starts at 7 pm) It will be US Chess rated, and the time control is 3 min/2 sec increment! The sign up fee is $15 (advance entry and online registration ends 2 hours before the start of the round), and will be $30 at the door. For ChessPalace members, entry is completely free!
Wednesday Knights: Four rounds, with one round played each Wednesday night on: March 6, 13, 20, and 27. Rounds starts at 7:00 pm.
Amateur Tournament: March 10th– Rounds starts at 12 pm. (US Chess membership is not required for the non-rated section.) *Please note that this tournament is at SteelCraft Garden Grove*
Scholastic Tournament: March 31st (Please note that this is Easter Sunday)-The scholastic tournament is for chess players in Grades K – 12th. (US Chess Federation membership is required.) Round starts at 9:30 am *Please note that this tournament is at SteelCraft Garden Grove*
Casual Nights: Thursdays and Fridays – Free entry for chess club members/$10 for non-members. Play as many games as possible between the hours of 6 pm to 10 pm. Walk-ins welcome! or Click Here to Sign Up
