Sunday, August 11: Amateur Tournament at Steelcraft Garden Grove
Kick off your week at the August Amateur Tournament, a casual, yet competitive round of games, held at the Steelcraft Garden Grove! The tournament starts at noon with time controls of 30 minutes and a 5-second delay. This event is perfect for those looking to test their skills in a competitive yet friendly and learning environment.

- Sections: rated and non-rated
- Time Control: 30 minutes with a 5-second delay per player

Tuesday, August 13: Monthly Blitz Tournament
Speed things up on Tuesday with our August Blitz Tournament! Starting at 7 PM, this event features the lightning-fast 5 min+0 format. It’s all about quick thinking and even quicker moves. It’s a fantastic opportunity to challenge yourself and see how you fare under pressure.
Highlights:
- Time Control: 5 min/0 sec delay
- Entry Fee: $15/$30 onsite (Complimentary for club members)
Wednesday, August 14: Wednesday Knights: August – ROUND 2
Don’t miss your chance to join the second round of our monthly Wednesday Knights tournament. Whether you’re already in the tournament or looking to get involved, this event is a great way to keep your competitive edge sharp and have the time to think through moves and decisions. Games start at 7 PM, so come prepared for some deep thinking.

- Time Control: 30 moves/90 min + 5 sec delay and Sudden death 30 minutes +5 sec delay

Thursday & Friday: Casual Chess Nights
For those looking for a more relaxed setting, our Casual Chess evenings are perfect. Join us from 6 PM to 10 PM Thursday and Friday for open play. Games are non-rated and boards and pieces are provided. Whether you’re a competitive player, casual player, or looking to unwind after a busy week, this is a great way to enjoy chess without the pressure of a tournament.
Highlights:
- Format: Non-rated open play; players switch around to vary game partners
- Cost: $10 for entry; complimentary to club members (Walk-ins are welcome!)
- Atmosphere: Casual and friendly, great for socializing and improving your game
Saturday, August 17: Saturday Tournament – Weekly Rated Tournament
Before summer bids farewell, make sure to participate in our weekly rated tournament on Saturday at 10 AM. This event is ideal for those who want to test their skills in a formal setting and climb the rating ladder. It’s a great way to close out the week with some serious chess action.

- Entry Fee: $30/ $40 at the door (Pre-registration highly encouraged)
