The April Scholastic tournament is going to be on Sunday, April 26, 2026 and is open for players in Kindergarten to 12th grade. Top 5 players in each of the four sections will be awarded trophies and the game results will be submitted for rating with US Chess.

Check-in between 9:30-9:45 AM and Round 1 starts at 10 AM with awards estimated at around 4 pm. There will be 5 rounds.
Venue: Indoors at 6803 International Ave. Unit 206, Cypress, CA 90630 (Free parking available)
Time control: Game 30 minutes, delay 5 seconds
Sections: (subject to change depending on the number of players)
- K-12th grade (Over 1100 in rating)
- K-8th grade Under 1100
- K-6th grade rated Under 800
- K-3rd grade Under 400
Awards: Top 5 trophies awarded in each section

Boards, sets, and clocks will be provided.
We recommend bringing your own writing utensils and scorebook/notebook. Spiral scorebooks are also available for purchase at the chess club for $5.
If your child would like additional practice time prior to the tournament, the chess club has open casual play every Thursday and Friday evening at 6 to 9 pm. Walk ins are welcome and is free for chess club members/ $10 for non-members.
