Outdoor tournament and store hours (updated 9/23)

Store hours are 2 pm – 6 pm daily.

Saturday Open will be held outdoors at SteelCraft Garden Grove starting Sept 26, 2020 until further notice. Entry fee is $30. Please pay through the link below and email us with the payment confirmation.

There will be three rounds G/85 with delay of 5 seconds and will start in the morning with round 1 at 9:30 AM so that we can start early and possibly end early too.

We will ask participants to sign a waiver release form prior to joining and to wear masks at all times while playing and in the playing area. Hand sanitizers will be provided at each board and disposable gloves are available. Bring your own tournament-regulation plastic set if available.

Registration starts at 9 AM with rounds at 9:30 am, 1:00 pm, and 4:30 pm (if rounds finish early, we can start the next rounds earlier.)

Entry fee is $30. Prizes will depend on the number of entries.

Please note that masks must be worn at ALL TIMES and we ask players to wash your hands before and after each round. If you experience any sickness on the day of the tournament, please do not come in. Send us an email and we will give a full refund.

The venue also has a strict no outside food and drinks policy except for water bottles. We encourage supporting the vendors at the venue by purchasing food and drinks on site. Coffee vendor will be open starting at 7:30 am and food vendors will start opening from 11 am onwards.

Information about the chess club’s temporary change of operation. (updated 9/2)

ChessPalace is still not hosting over the board chess tournaments or in person group lessons at the chess club. At this time, we do not have any information about when we will resume full operations. We encourage you to take this time to continue being safe, healthy, and active in playing chess at home, online, or over the board with others in your household. If you’re needing learning materials or chess equipment, please let us know and we can show you on a video call what items are available for purchase. We can then ship it to you or have it ready for pickup. If you would like to send a chess set to friends and family, we also have a starter kit available for $50.

In the meantime, the chess club will be open by appointment for purchase of books and chess sets, and will start operating an online shop. We are also pivoting classes to online 1-on-1 chess lessons. For more information, visit our page on classes.

ACTIVE MEMBERS:
We will be extending your membership for an additional 6 months from the expiry date.
